Hamilton County Needs You.

Recovery from the 2026 flooding will take months — even years — and it happens because volunteers show up. Whether you have a weekend, a skilled trade, or an ongoing commitment to give, there’s a place for you on the team.

Ways to Volunteer

Construction & repair crews — muck-outs, tear-outs, rebuilds, and repairs (skilled trades especially needed: electrical, plumbing, roofing, drywall)

Affiliated volunteer groups — faith-based teams, service organizations, and disaster-response groups coming as a group

Individual/unaffiliated volunteers — general labor, sorting and distributing donations, administrative support

Case management support — trained volunteers to help survivors navigate paperwork and planning

Emotional & spiritual care — chaplains, counselors, and caregivers offering support to survivors, volunteers, and the community

Donations & warehouse help — receiving, sorting, and organizing in-kind donations

Who Can Volunteer

Volunteering is open regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, or political beliefs; acceptance for a given role is based on ability to carry out the task. We do have the following age restrictions:
 
Ages 18+ — eligible for all volunteer roles, including construction and skilled-trade work.
 
Under 18 — must be performing a suitable task with no legal minimum age, must be supervised at all times (never left alone), and must have a parent or guardian’s signed permission on the LTRG Volunteer Registration Form. Ages 16–17 are welcome as youth volunteers, and by special arrangement with the LTRG, volunteers as young as 14 may be allowed on certain jobsites.
 
No upper age limit — we welcome and value the knowledge, time, and experience senior volunteers bring, though certain job assignments may be limited for safety reasons.

Screening & Training

What to Expect

  • References may be requested as part of matching volunteers to roles.
  • A criminal background check may be required, especially for volunteers working directly with clients — those volunteers will also be asked to verify identity (e.g., driver’s license or state ID).
  • Any task requiring a licensed skill (electrical, plumbing, etc.) is performed only by someone holding that license, with proof provided.
  • All volunteers receive an orientation and safety training before starting.
  • Volunteers working directly with clients sign a confidentiality agreement.
  • All volunteers work under the coordination of our Volunteer Management Committee, which matches skills to current projects.
  • Groups traveling from outside the area: we help coordinate housing and logistics — let us know your group size and dates when you reach out.
